Samsung Galaxy S5 could come with 4GB of double speed DDR4 RAM

Samsung has just announced it has the largest UHD TV at 110-inches and now it may soon have the fastest, highest resolution smartphones too.

The company has developed the first LPDDR4 RAM, which in short will offer 4GB of double speed RAM and as a result, means we can expect 4K UHD displays.

The new chip has the largest density on a DRAM component to date and was built using the 20nm process, offering 1GB on a single die.

The extra RAM will mean faster applications, higher resolution displays, better battery life and more advanced features for smartphones and tablets.

It should also be twice as fast as the current DDR3 RAM offering, as well as achieve 50 per cent higher performance using 60 per cent less energy.

The Korean giant said: "With the new chip, Samsung will focus on the premium mobile market including large screen UHD smartphones, tablets and ultra-slim notebooks that offer four times the resolution of Full HD."

With Samsung introducing 64-bit processors in 2014, capable of supporting more RAM, hopefully we will see the benefits on the Galaxy S5.
