(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A new study shows dialing, texting or reaching for a cellphone while driving increases the risk of a crash, especially for newer drivers.
However, some studies showed just talking on the phone did not prove as dangerous.
The study shows young drivers showed the risk of a crash or near-miss rose dramatically if they were dialing a phone, reaching for an object, texting or eating.
Researchers installed video cameras, lane trackers and gadgets to measure speed and other sensors in the cars of drivers new and experienced.
